"How are things?" Terra asks, when she gets chance -- because Celes is always with Locke, now, not excluding her, but at the same time it makes her unhappy because Celes is so close to Locke, and Locke obviously adores her so, and she, Terra, obviously doesn't have a chance to win Celes' heart. She'd entertained such hopes only briefly, but still, the point remained -- it feels unfair, even if Locke and Celes really are as oblivious as they seem.
"I'm having fun," Celes says -- hesitating just a little over the word fun, a word that used to be so foreign to her. She shrugs her shoulders and smiles a smile Locke has become fond of -- and that Terra likes to see just as much.
"It's good to hear," she says, smiling as well.
"How're things for you?"
Terra shrugs. She's happy, in a settled down way; the adventure is over and though there's plenty to do, it doesn't get her heart hammering. "I could do with a change. Something exciting."
Celes laughs and nods. "I know what you mean."
They don't really get a chance to talk again, alone, which is a shame. Terra tries to ignore it -- burying herself in the conversation of Edgar, Sabin and Setzer, who have taken to making unlikely bets on whatever is going on, and to bickering about it afterwards. She spends time with Relm, too, and watches her draw, and sits still to be drawn.
"I hope something happens to you," Celes says, whispering, and pushes something into her hand. "For luck," she explains. Terra feels a tight knot of possessive anger as Locke drags Celes away -- kisses her, right there, and then winks at Terra.
She knows what Celes' lucky charm is. Locke's bandanna. The adventure Celes got was love. Sex. All of the things Terra can only guess about that comes with it. She smoothes out the bandanna and looks at it, hopelessly, and wonders if it'll bring her the same kind of adventure.

I like the resentment Terra has toward Locke (and you could really almost argue that he and Celes stole each other from her, couldn't you?) and how Celes just wants to wish her friend well but it ends up hurting Terra.
