Summary: An offer.
She sat with her hands around her cup, staring down into the hot chocolate as if she could see something there. Seifer chanced a glance at his own, but saw only a milky swirl that didn't really seem to mean anything. He sipped at it quietly, watching her. Outside, it was cold, winter cold in the middle of spring. He'd ended up saving the girl from a fall, not entirely intentionally, and well, she was pretty and she offered him a hot drink and a chance to chat, so he'd accepted.
But so far, she was silent.
He watched as she sipped at her drink, listening to her sniff in the rich, sweet smell of chocolate and mint, and then smirking a little as she took a little slurping sip. "Do you always slurp when you drink?" he wanted to know, and she quickly lowered the drink, colour flooding into her cheeks.
"Maybe I like the sound," she said, perhaps a little challenging.
He shrugged. He hadn't meant to embarrass her so much. Just make conversation. "The students at Garden make worse noises when they eat. There's one called Zell Dincht, has a hair cut like a chocobo having a bad feather day, annoys the..." he paused, substituted a more polite word than 'fuck', "hell out of me. Stuffs a whole hotdog, sometimes two, into his mouth at once. And chews it really loudly. Then chokes."
"You're a student... at Garden?" she asked, seeming to ignore the last part of what he said. He tried not to be annoyed by that.
"Yeah, of course."
"Could you..." she looked up, more eager, and put down her hot chocolate, moving quickly across the room towards him. He put his mug down, almost instinctively, and was glad he did because she seized his hands, her hands unnaturally warmed by the drink. "Could you teach me?"
"It'd take more than a few days to -- " he started, and she shook her head, squeezing his hands.
"Please? During your next vacation? We'd make a great team, me and you!"
He looked at her, and found he couldn't say no. "Okay. In the summer."
She smiled. And he found himself hoping he could make her smile like that more often.
