Wash has never been that opposed to the Alliance, except on a few moral points and a general feeling that they were too controlling. Or he wasn't too opposed, until he got the chance to travel as a pilot and see all the planets, all the moons. Some had nothing, some had less than nothing, and -- it was wrong. If the Alliance was such a good thing, it should be reversing that.
Which as far as Wash was concerned was false advertising, and someone needed to rise up and object.
