When stormy weather is sent his way, he curses and worries like any pilot, but like any good pilot he is glad of the challenge. He's glad of the opportunity to show off his skills and really challenge the storm. So flying before the entire fleet of Reavers, flying amongst them -- it's a real challenge and he loves it as much as he hates and fears what could happen. Landing Serenity is an exercise in sheer dumb luck and every ounce of pilot's skill he has to wrest control from gravity.

Any pilot knows that the worst folly is to get cocky, and Wash is never that while he's flying -- but even his quiet pride causes trouble, it seems.
