"Everyone must serve me in their own way," Aslan tells him, his voice gruff but still gentle, "and your way is to sail back to Narnia and give up the further adventure. You have a life here ahead of you."
Caspian can stay silent only for a moment, his face mostly pale except for the red of anger in his cheeks. "I can't!"
"There is no such word."
There's a hint of a growl now in Aslan's voice, and finally Caspian looks up into the lion's eyes. He can't keep looking for very long.
"I'm sorry, Aslan. I just..."
"I know, my son. I know."
