Mal's not, he realises quickly, in Simon's good books. It shows in the way the tension snaps between them, the way the bandage is tugged needlessly tight, and the rough precision of Simon's painkilling injections. And, he realises, Simon does have a point -- he was kind of stupid, and the fact that he's not apologisin' now is only compounding the problem.
He clears his throat carefully, telling himself he's only doing this so his doctor -- his gorramn lover -- ain't pissed off with him, not 'cause he's truly admitting he made a mess o' things, "I'm sorry."
There's a hint of a smile on Simon's face after a second, and his fingertips brush Mal's arm gently as he finishes off the bandaging -- never, of course, outwardly yielding.
