Running his hand along the wall as he walks, Mal can feel the shudders, the little things that tell him his ship is hurtin'. She ain't the only one hurting -- they're hurtin' for money and a safe place, but that ain't the point. Fixin' Serenity's gotta be a priority, 'cause she gives 'em life in the black and keeps 'em going till they touch planetside.
A stitch in time saves nine, they say, and it makes Mal grin a little as he thinks of the nine that'll be saved -- his crew; the crazy, the not-so-crazy and the just damn brutal.
"You'll be alright, Serenity," he says softly, to the ship in general, and pats the wall before moving along to get on with it all.
