If she closes her eyes she can almost imagine Aeris is there, right there, in exactly the kind of spot she would've stood to watch Yuffie sleep. Yuffie knows, because she used to see Aeris standing there, watching them breathe, maybe counting the breaths and the heartbeats and maybe talking to something Yuffie barely believed in.
It hurts, to think of that. Because Aeris is gone, now, and those days are gone. It might hurt less, if she could just wake up to feel Aeris' eyes on her just once more, and open her eyes to catch that fleeting loving smile.
