Edge is a reckless idiot. Rydia knows it. She's always known it -- she's called him that often enough. Now, leaning against the stone wall and looking down to see the monsters below, she wonders if she should have tried to change him more.

Of course, when the monsters came, he had to fight. He had to, he'd said, giving her that so pathetic look that begged. And she'd let him go, because the king of Eblan had to fight with his men.

But now... now they aren't even sure who's alive and who's dead.

And Rydia wonders if Edge is coming back.
