Sometimes, she's almost sure her smile has frozen in place. It doesn't even deserve to be there, with Zidane so pointedly not there anymore, with Zidane left behind in the Iifa Tree. But still, it's there, stuck.
Beatrix can give her worried looks all she wants, but she smiles and fights the way her throat seems to lock up to hold her voice back, like it did once before. She smiles and tells the noble that, why, yes, she'd love to hear about his son and how beautiful he thinks she is.
If only Zidane were there to make her truly smile.
