"Why are you here?"
"You asked me to come."
Leon snorted softly, running a hand through his hair and shifting slightly in his seat, obviously uncomfortable. The candles lit up his face and gave it all a quality it didn't deserve. Intimacy or love; neither applied to them. Not now. Cloud pulled his thoughts back from the idea that it might just be not yet. If it was to happen, it certainly wasn't yet. "I didn't mean now."
"Why am I in Traverse Town? I don't know. I'm... looking for something."
Bearing his soul seemed at odds with Leon's closed off expression, so he simply didn't, leaving everything unspoken. Leon nodded slightly as if his answer was fine, so there he left it, and leant back in his chair a little to look at Leon more closely.
"So. Why did you come to meet me?"
"You asked -- "
"I know that."
The soft scorn in Leon's voice hurt a little. Cloud flicked a bit of hair out of his eyes to keep from answering for a moment, swallowed hard, watching the candlelight reflected flickering in Leon's dark eyes. "I wanted to."
Leon's continued silence made him shift a little more, uncomfortable, feeling as if Leon was looking right through him. Suddenly, getting out of Traverse Town and continuing his travels didn't seem that important. Nothing did, compared to the quiet, watching, under-his-skin quality of Leon's unwavering gaze.
He cleared his throat. "I, ah, came because of you. Because I..."
The hint of a smile on Leon's face made him wonder. Stopped him completing his sentence. And then Leon reached out, fingers wrapping round his wrist and tugging up. "Come this way," he said, softly.
