The light is rather too bright, here, even after her brief time underground saying goodbye to the summoned monsters -- monsters? She can hardly call them that anymore! -- and Edge's smile rather too familiar when she almost wants nothing to do with the world she's chosen. But he won't go away and when his hand slips into hers she squeezes it hard, glad and annoyed at the comfort.
"I know it's hard," he says, slowly, and she shakes her head. She's surprised when he wisely shuts up -- somehow he seems to understand that she doesn't want to hear that.
