Edmund is just a kid. A kid he needs to protect, whether it be from airplanes and bombs, the terror of their home in the dark during the bombing time, or on a battlefield in Narnia with the armour bright in the sun and the blood bright on his blade. For Edmund, he thinks, he'd do many things. Oh, for Susan and Lucy, too, but his guilt at Edmund's deviation from the path -- allhisfault -- makes him value Edmund that much more, makes every sword stroke for Edmund, for the pride he feels at seeing Edmund back with them.
