It's a fluke of birth and Peter isn't ready to let it say whether or not he can have Edmund. One day, oh, one day, Aslan will look on him and he'll find his judgement there, but for now he dares to let himself hope -- dares to let himself dream, to think of Edmund in his arms and if only it's not wrong just to think of it, in his bed, skin to skin, body against body. It's a slow dull ache, a want, the only whim he can't have fulfilled with a royal command. He almost likes that.
