Simon tastes of something Mal vaguely remembers, but can't quite define. Holding him pressed against the counter in the infirmary, arms on either side of him to trap him there, Mal's quite prepared to kiss Simon again -- and again, and again -- to try and figure out the answer, even if Simon is squirming a little and muttering something about work to do -- there's always work to do, but for now it can go to hell because the taste is annoying Mal now, the word elusive and sorta slippery. And a squirming Simon ain't exactly a bad thing.
