"Edge!"
Gramps frowns disapproval even while Edge is already standing and moving towards the girl, a million reprimands and scolds springing to mind, but he doesn't get chance to say more than an, "King Edward, you mean," before Edge has his arms around Rydia and she's kissing his cheek.
"Rydia, so good to see you, it's been..."
"Far too long," the girl agrees, stepping away from him and doing a little curtsey -- slightly mocking, but Gramps can't see that. He harrumphs a little and steps down to graciously kiss the girl's hand.
"It's good to have you in Eblan, Miss..."
"Rydia, of Mist," she says, with a soft smile, and Gramps realises he has seen her before. His eyesight is obviously -- but there, she is a little more grown up than he remembers, and he can't be expected to remember everyone he sees.
"Well. 'hem. I suppose we'd better adjourn the court for now, so you can spend some time with Miss Rydia, King Edward."
Gramps would scold Edge for his delighted look, if it weren't for the girl. He gives him a look saying remember what I said about you and girls and then turns to sweep out, as regal as Edge is not and entirely too full of pride. The girl -- Rydia -- giggles as he leaves, but he doesn't deign to comment.
When he sees them later, spread out on the grass and on a blanket, feeding each other strawberries -- strawberries, of all things -- Gramps decides it's time to either resign or toughen up on his rules for Edge.
Obviously, the young king is having rather too much fun.
