When the storm breaks, they stay indoors. Rikku is a quivering heap of fear and Gippal almost shares it -- an infectious burst of fear and electricity skitting and sliding through his veins with his blood, with his heartbeat, faster now and louder.
But he's not scared like she is; he lives within it, the thunder and the storm swelling around them. She's scared and he's exhilirated, and they don't meet in the middle because she's inside, walling herself in more and more and he's joyfully embracing it.
Normally, they know each other, but for right now they're strangers in the storm.
