The water of the river is ice cold, which is, as Edge persuades himself, a good thing, considering that they don't have time to be modest and wash separately and Rydia is right there, wearing very very little and shivering a little in the cold.
He fights back thoughts of how to warm her up and dodges Kain's questioning, amused glance by ducking himself right into the freezing cold water, eyes tight shut.
This whole trip is designed to test his sense of decency and all of that, it seems. It's annoying and cruel and he glares at Kain's over amused expression.
