"Rinoa?"
Rinoa looked up and smiled the most charming smile she knew how to smile. Mostly because Seifer was giving her the most pissed-off-yet-amused look she'd seen in quite a while, and really it was mostly Squall who incurred that smile. Squall was right behind him and for once joining in with a slightly incredulous look.
"Yes?" she answered sweetly.
"Flowers."
"I thought you'd progressed beyond one word sentences, Seifer, dear," she teased, standing up and smoothing out her clothes and then her hair, frowning a little at the way Squall rolled his eyes.
"What the fuck have you got flowers in here for?"
"For you. And Squall."
Squall snorted softly and Seifer bit the finger of his glove to get it off, stuffing it in his pocket and running a hand through his hair before yanking the other off as well. "Rinoa, I may fuck Squall and he may fuck me, on occassion, but that doesn't make us pansies."
"Didn't say you were."
She was pouting. She knew she was pouting and she knew Squall knew she was pouting and she crossed the room to him and he wrapped his arms around her -- almost automatically, but holding her so warmly and closely she knew it wasn't just a habit.
"Why the hell did you buy flowers then?"
Her voice was a little muffled by Squall's shoulder, and she could never quite match Squall's ice when she spoke -- just as nobody could match Seifer's fire. "They're mundi roses. They mean variety. I thought they were appropriate."
"It's a sweet gesture -- " Squall started, and it was odd enough to hear him say the word 'sweet' like that, and then Seifer chipped in.
"But they're really ugly flowers."
"Seifer!"
Rinoa contemplated the flowers for a moment, ignoring her boyfriends glaring at each other. Seifer was right, really. She preferred normal roses. But she did love Seifer and Squall, and the variety they brought into her life.
Even if some of it involved dodging the two of them when they started fighting.
