It just takes a little slip-slide sideways, like so many things in Narnia -- a step out of a room full of dancing people, and away from the High King's eyes, ever watchful of his precious littlest sister. Lucy's made bigger steps before -- into a wardrobe, onto a throne -- so taking Tumnus' hand is easy, because she's older now, and it's such a tiny step, only not, because love is never such a simple step.

But she does it, and he smiles, and she smiles, and her stomach and heart slip-slide back into their normal places, and everything's right.
