Vivi is horribly, shyly proud of being allowed to fight beside Zidane. It doesn't matter that he's scared -- it doesn't matter that the hand that holds his staff is trembling and the staff slips a little in his grasp. All that matters is that he reaches in and reaches out and throws out his magic in powerful burning sparks, to help Zidane.
He's happy just to stand there, at the same time as he's afraid, watching Zidane and his quick movements and his grin as if it's all a game.
He's proudest when his spell kills a monster and Zidane cheers.
