Mal opened the door, peering into the dark room, hoping the doctor was awake. "Simon?"
"What is it?"
"My bandages..."
"Go to the infirmary. I'll be there in a minute."
Simon's tone was resigned, slightly annoyed, and Mal cursed at himself for being careless yet again and worrying his lover.
He sat quiet for Simon to stitch him up again and rebandage his arm, drawing the bandage tight. He tried not to react too much to Simon's hands on him -- until Simon leaned down to kiss him, tying the bandage neatly and slipping into his lap.
Then he held him tight, reassuringly warm and alive.
