Rydia had an agressive way in battle that Edge kind of admired. It was like she had a personal goal, something to achieve in every battle. When she bent over him after a battle, offering a potion, he sorta understood.
She wanted to protect him. Annoying as he was to her, he was something she was coming to value. And she protected that, maybe out of affection, maybe out of a desire for his presence in her life.
He wasn't sure quite what she was up to, but he wasn't going to complain. He always had a soft spot for strong women.
