It's a recurring dream, a slow nightly torture that has plagued him since the war. Maybe it plagued him before that, too. He doesn't remember when it started -- all he knows it that it never seems to end, a slow painful grind, wearing him down and wearing him thin until sometimes he can't bear to lift his head. Torture at the hands of his rival, who was once his friend, who he suddenly meant nothing to. Sometimes he thinks that he's always dreamed of that, and that she simply drew his worst nightmare from him and made it real.
