Simon blinked and looked up at Kaylee. She was smiling, her eyes half lidded and sleepy. He settled down next to her, wrapping an arm around her waist and hoped he wasn't about to mess up yet again. "Oh?"
"Yeah. Real soft and... nice," she took his hand in hers, squeezing gently, "like, I don't know, an artist or something. Really clever hands. Not like mine. I always have to put moisturising stuff on them if I want them to feel nice."
"Your hands are fine."
"You're real sweet, when you want to be," she teased, lightly. She shifted a little, resting her cheek against his shoulder for a moment. "Guess it's to be expected, since you're a doctor an' all. A surgeon's hands, and all that."
"Yeah."
She pushed up a little, smiling at him in that whimsical way of hers, kissing him eagerly. "I like it, when you touch me. Like I said, your hands are real clever. When they want to be. Like you and being sweet."
"You're never going to let my clumsiness go, are you?"
"Nope," she grinned. "But I am waiting for you to take the hint."
"The hint... oh."
Simon finally got it when she took his hand and moved it to where she wanted it.
