F: Ariel
Fandom: Firefly
Pairing: Mal/Simon
Warnings: None
Rating: G
Summary: Jayne's betrayal of Simon hurts. (Set during the ending of the episode "Ariel".)
Enough that Jayne betrayed a member of his crew. Worse that it was Simon. Mal isn't a cruel man at heart, and his reaction is pure cold rage that burns out before he has a chance to do something he'd quietly regret.
But it still hurts that Jayne betrayed Simon. And it hurts that Simon doesn't know, that like others before him he gives Jayne credit for purely selfish actions. It hurts because there's still a little of the wide eyed and innocent in Simon that Mal is getting kind of fond of, despite himself.
He doesn't really forgive, not yet.
