"My family are gone."

"I know," Rosa says, very gently. She pulls him over to her and lets her lean against him, stroking his hair gently, like a mother. He appeals to that instinct in her, even with all his arrogance and cocksure showing off.

"I miss them," he says, and his voice trembles.

Rydia slowly hunches down, watching them, listening. She misses her mother, too, wishes she could find the same motherly spirit in Rosa as Edge has.

"It's okay," Rosa soothes him, and though she doesn't quite kiss his forehead, it's obvious she wants to.

"Thank you... for always being ready to talk."

Awwwww, Edge. *pets* And Rosa being all motherly. I like how Edge (the sassy one) is so much more willing to have the mother/son dynamic with her, while Rydia, who lost her mother a long time ago and had to kind of substitute Asura, can't.

Hmm. Maybe I'll write Rydia as Asura's daughter, and the messed-up-ness of it.
