They get together sometimes, the lot of them, or as many as can go, anyway. This time there's Edge and Rydia (newly married and already arguing like fury), Cecil and Rosa, calm and good as ever, Cid, Edward and Yang. They're staying in Fabul with Yang. The others couldn't make it but that doesn't really matter. They'll see them another time.
The point is meeting up. Keeping the ties strong. They all fought against it, the evil, and all of them have been touched and changed by it. They need each other to understand themselves.
It's about Cid teasing Rydia and Edge being only half-jokingly possessive and Rydia laughing or glaring him. It's about Cecil's gentler jibes at Edge that don't go with his quiet expression. It's Edward's music that speaks to them somehow about all the darkness and light. It's Rosa's soft voice, holding them as captive as Edward's accompaniment.
It's Rydia casting magic simply because she can. Casting a water spell on Edge as he scrambles out of the way and falls into Edward's lap. It's Edward's flinch and the way the others all laugh at him.
It's Rosa and Cecil being the perfect little couple and Edge and Rydia seeming like children in comparison.
It's Cid catching Edge and Rydia half naked in what amounts to a broom closet, and laughing at them, and telling the tale over and over again until Cecil almost thinks he was the one who caught them.
It's just being together and understanding. It's just all the little similarities and differences which helped them work together so well. It's laughing and forgetting, for a while, that they're all kings and queens and important people.
