FFVII: One For The Planet

Yuffie stands outside in the cold of the little town. Cloud is inside, watching the videos, but the minute she realised that Ifalna was Aeris' mother she started shivering and couldn't stop. She misses Aeris already. At first she thought Aeris was kinda wimpy and a bit of a push over, but now...

Aeris took a blow for the Planet. For all of them. Yuffie tries not to think too hard about the Planet and all of that, that's over her head and in too deep, she's just with them for Wutai. But sometimes the thought creeps in. They're fighting for the whole damn Planet and the whole damn Planet seems completely unaware.

She couldn't do what Aeris did. Not even for Wutai. So, okay, Aeris didn't know she was going to die, but she did smile at her death. She kept smiling while she died. That sent shivers down Yuffie's spine then. When she thinks of it now it makes her tremble all over until she sits down in the cold wet snow and lets herself freeze a little more. Maybe she'll freeze solid.

It wasn't a nice kind of smile, that smile. Aeris always smiled nicely, but smiling as she died? That was... somehow wrong.

All of it creeps Yuffie out, if she wants to be honest. All of it makes her feel sick and shaky and nervous.

It was much simpler when she could still pretend it was just for Wutai.

I like this. Especially the whole "Aeris smiling as she died" thing, cause that always creeped me out too.
