He doesn't really mean to kiss her, but she doesn't seem to take offence. It's a friendly kiss, really, because he still loves his wife more than anything and everything. It's just... Caffrey is so nice, so kind to him, despite everything she has on her plate and despite every time he makes himself a nuisance.
That's why Lucas kisses her, and maybe that's why she kisses back. She ruffles his hair afterwards and smiles her we're-doing-great smile.
"Don't do that again," she says, softly, in her just-a-suggestion voice, and the flush is quick and heated.
"I didn't -- "
"It's okay, really."
