Garnet isn't particularly strong with white magic, but it makes her feel worth something. Zidane and Steiner do all the physical damage and Vivi casts his spells and sometimes she feels useless, but the white magic helps make up for it. After a battle, where they protect her, where she does minimal damage and mostly stays out of the way, it's her who heals them, gets them ready for the inevitable next encounter.
Knowing that helps, when she watches Zidane fight and knows that he'll always be better at all of this than her. She's made to heal, to give life.
