Summary: And here's where it all starts. For
key_blade.
The sun is warm on the three of them and they have no plans for the day. Sora is staring at the sky. He'd be looking at the shapes in the clouds but there aren't any clouds. He likes the little puffy ones, but he likes the blue sky even more, so that's okay.
Riku is sat, propped up on his arms, and his voice is a low murmur as he speaks half to himself, half to the two of them. Sora can't focus on his voice anyway. The sun is nice, really, seeping through his body until it feels like the sunlight goes straight through him to warm the sand under his back.
"...you even listening to me?"
"No," he admits, and Riku reaches over to shove his shoulder, while Kairi giggles.
"I was saying," and he glares, with an almost-pout even, "that we should go exploring."
"We've already explored this island over and over again," Sora says, quietly, not sure what Riku means, not even thinking of the great expanse of sea Riku is really interested in. He gets the 'you're a moron' look from Riku and Kairi's little eyeroll.
"We were talking about sailing away. Finding the place where I came from."
"Oh."
There's a pause. They seem to be waiting for him to say more than 'oh', so he shrugs his shoulders a little and grins the daredevil grin that everyone says he shares with Riku.
"Sounds fun! When do we start?"
Kairi leaps up from the sand, spilling over with words and enthusiasm, and Riku gets up and looks down at Sora, challenging, not offering him a hand, only a cool smile. "You're really up for it?"
"'Course!"
And that's the start of it.
