Every time he thinks he's getting through, Jane steps back and slips through his grasp again. He's not sure if she's playing hard to get, or just is hard to get, but he's pretty sure it's the latter because she doesn't seem the type to play like that.
Sometimes when they're working on something together, just him and her, he thinks he's about to break through the barrier. But she always retreats.
Wouldn't be fun if it wasn't a challenge, anyway, he thinks.
He thinks he's got through to her when he's fixing that panel. He swaggers, she smiles, and then --
