Summary: She asks him to take care of Cecil. He takes it as an order. For mount_ordeals.


"Cecil says you're going with him to Mist."

Kain looks up and takes Rosa in all in one glance and wishes he didn't. He can't believe how easily she fell for Cecil, how her heart tumbled right into the Dark Knight's hands. He wanted her. He wanted her more than Cecil did.

But it's not Cecil's fault. Or Rosa's. You can't choose who you fall in love with.

He tries to keep his contact with Rosa little and the conversations short, now. It's easier that way. It won't let the jealousy touch his friendship with Cecil, though half the time he's aware that he watches Cecil's back for Rosa's sake.

"Yes. We leave for Mist early tomorrow morning."

"Take care of him," she says, and though some might've thought of it as a plea, Kain took it as an order.

"Of course."

I love this. I really, really love the way you bring out both Kain's loyalty/friendship with Cecil (so many people forget that part) and his love for Rosa/bitter jealousy over her relationship with Cecil. Really nice.
