Summary: The tiniest bad thing can ruin a whole day.
Quistis was having a good morning. It was an okay morning, anyway, bright sunshine and tweeting birds and enough paperwork to choke a chocobo, but she was happy enough and content with her lot.
When she walked into the cafeteria and saw Seifer sitting there, alone, with his coffee and toast, she paused. She went to get her hot chocolate and toast and, ignoring the table where Irvine, Selphie and Zell were already sat, headed towards Seifer's table. It took a lot of courage to say it, because he looked as if he was in a bad mood, and as if he might get destructive if she pissed him off. "Can I sit with you?"
He didn't really give her a response, so she slid into the seat opposite him, wondering why she was doing this. But she knew. She wanted to show him that she welcomed him and forgave him.
She tried to talk to him. But he wouldn't answer. Finally he stood up, scraping his chair back and saying loudly, loudly enough for the whole cafeteria to hear, "Look, Trepe, I don't care about what you have to say. Leave me alone."
And he stalked out, rejecting her offer of friendship and leaving her sitting there a little hurt.
The morning just wouldn't go right after that.
