"Kain?"
He looks up at her, and smiles a bit, uncertainly. She hasn't changed a bit; she's still the Rosa he would've killed Cecil to be with if he hadn't wanted Cecil just as much. And she smiles back and runs to him in a flutter of skirts, throwing her arms around his neck as if nothing changed.
Cecil is more reserved but he's there, and he smiles in that way he always had that made a place inside Kain feel warmer somehow. "It's good to see you back."
"It's good to be back," he says, and he startles Cecil by grabbing his hand and pulling him into a hug. "Good to see you again."
"Good to be warm again, I should think," Cecil says, his tone a little dry, remembering the biting cold on the slopes of Mount Ordeals.
"Maybe that, too."
Rosa takes his hand, warm and soft and smiling, and he can't think why she was ever called 'Rosa', because she's nothing like a rose; she's more beautiful and she doesn't have thorns. "Maybe things can back to how they were before, now," she suggests, softly, looking up through her eyelashes, and Kain has never wanted anything more.
