He takes her home. Home to Bevelle, away from the ruins that aren't Home or home any longer.
He's decided by now that even if he is a mistake, even if Rikku's baby is a mistake, he'll stick by those mistakes made, because that's all you can do. Baralai understands and lets him be alone a little more, and then lets him have the company when he wants it again.
And he does want it now, touch-hungry and eager to know he's not a mistake.
He asks Baralai to marry him, and though Baralai splutters and says it's ridiculous he persists. A ring might be nothing more than a visual claim and a reminder, but it's a reminder there to guard from mistakes and he needs that now. Baralai splutters some more but he's half convinced the minute Gippal says it and now he just needs time.
Gippal feels horrible, asking Rikku for favours now, because she'll do so many things for him if he just asks and that isn't really fair. Besides, there's a part of him that says Rikku makes mistakes and he wants no mistakes now.
"Help me arrange it?" he asks. It's forgiveness and a clean slate and he grins at her, just like before.
Just like before.
