Arthur as a girl is kind of attractive. Okay, not kind of. He's attractive. Well. She's attractive. She's very attractive, actually. Well. In Merlin's secret heart, he might admit that Arthur has always been attractive. Very attractive. Very, very attractive.
So it's kind of weird to be there lacing up her dress. Well, not kind of. It's weird. It's very weird. It makes Merlin stutter slightly and fumble, and makes his brain go round in odd-shaped metaphorical circles. He's given up on wondering how Arthur managed to persuade anyone it's still okay for him -- her -- to have a manservant. Probably by telling everyone he's stupid and loyal and he'd never even think of it. Which is patently not true. Every brush of his fingers against bare warm skin is just about killing him.
"Merlin."
Merlin tried to shake his head clear. "Buh?"
"Finish doing up my laces. Sometime today."
Merlin resists the urge to kiss the soft nape of her neck, where her hair is just starting to curl as it grows. It's harder than you'd expect -- to resist, that is. Nothing, you know, nothing else is hard. Well. Laces are difficult, but. Nothing. You know. "Uh. Yes."
The bossiness isn't attractive. At all.
Well, maybe a little.
