Squall never talks, when they do this. He hardly ever talks anyway but Laguna's not an idiot, he knows this is different. He doesn't even blame Squall, 'cause this is damned messed up, but he wishes it were different. He wishes Squall wouldn't bite back the noises he makes, wouldn't put his hand over Laguna's mouth whenever he tries to tell him how amazing this is, how utterly amazing he is. He wishes he could see Squall let go, just once, just while the door is closed and the curtains are drawn and they're alone. He wishes he could make Squall let go, instead of winding it all tighter and making everything a million times worse.
He can accept it, resign himself to it, right up until the moment when he sees Squall again, right up until when they're alone together even. Then he has to try, has to try to make Squall come undone, because if he doesn't -- if he never lets go, if he carries on like this -- well, one day there'll be nowhere left to withdraw to, nothing left to do but... shatter.
