cupcakemonster's Twist, Twist, Yank.
She doesn't know he's awake, but he likes it that way. Give them a bit and they'll think they've taken the world. Learn something from them and the little bit you gave is worth it to you, hardly anything to them. He doesn't even recognise himself playing with her, because he's done it so many times. He's so quick to think up a strategy, a plot, a plan, and people are so quick to follow and adore him because it always works.
She's in his bedroom, sitting there stillstill and silent, and she thinks she's watching him sleep. Hah. Hah.
She was all white-hot anger and worried fury earlier, and he realises he's been blind, and that the feelings in her are all white-hot, and he has to handle her gently-gently, now.
He's not used to gently-gently.
He's always asking why and so now he's asking her, quiet-quiet silent in the back of his mind, why? She's been his best friend -- she's run beside him, all curiosity and brains and ditz, two blonds having fun, and why ruin it now with all the objections because she should know that once he's made a plan she sticks to it.
Her finger touches his skin, brush-brush gone, and he wonders more.
Curiousity, that's Gippal, so he doesn't 'wake', lets her stay, and parts of him are surprised and confused and the other parts are just pleased when the bed dips and she's beside him.
She tells him not to go and he wants to tell her that he has to, except he's never been good at justifying and there isn't much point in it anyway, she's all cling-cling and soft shaky breath, and he settles down to sleep and wonders if she'll forget to go.
He's going now anyway, even if she doesn't want him to, to find out why people are scared. In his mind, he's already gone.
