I'm so behind in my fic-reading list I forgot how much I adore your writing. I don't know these characters, so I can't say "squee, it's so in character" but I just really loved the writing style here -- how it's kind of gruff and offhand.

Now I'm going to wikipedia this book and see what it's all about.
