Will has often wondered if it meant anything, that he was burnt and branded by the Sign of Iron, and that it was the Sign of Iron Simon took in the end. At least -- he's wondered since he found himself thinking of Simon, dreaming of Simon, making a fool of himself over Simon. He's wondered if there's any significance to the Signs each of them took. Is Stone what his heart should be? Is Iron what Simon's is, shaped only by fire?
At least, he thinks, his sign was made of flint, and from flint, sparks can be struck.
