"Are you ever planning on relaxing and looking like you're having fun?"
"That would be breaking the habit of a lifetime," Squall said, dryly. Irvine grinned and leaned against the wall beside him.
"This is my graduation, you know. You could be a bit more enthusiastic. As a present to me."
Squall snorted softly. "Sorry. If I do that, there's a gaggle of girls over there just waiting to swoop."
Irvine made a thoughtful face. "I can think of something you could do to discourage them that would still be a present to me," he said, teasing -- he'd said things along these lines before, mostly teasing, trying to gauge Squall's interest. He put a hand on Squall's arm, pulling him a little closer.
"I'm not a complete idiot, you know," Squall said, softly, and he took a step closer. "I know why you keep saying things like this."
Irvine raised an eyebrow. "Oh?" he asked, and he tugged on Squall's arm. It shocked the life out of him when Squall came closer to him easily, when Squall's eyes slid closed and he tipped his head up. It almost shocked him into stillness, except that Squall had ideas of his own about that and reached up, pulling Irvine down. Irvine was shocked at the way Squall's mouth melted against his -- though not surprised at the way the rest of Squall's body remained tense, like he had a steel pole for a spine.
"If you won't relax and have fun here," he said, quietly, breath still brushing over Squall's lips, "we could go somewhere else."
Squall shocked him with a smile -- a tiny one, but a smile nonetheless. "Let's."
