It should have been a fairy tale. Cid knew enough to know that -- that the beautiful woman didn't end up with the plain, bookish kinda guy. From the very start, he should have known he had no chance.
But real life is different. In real life, people make crazy choices and people's hearts aren't made of paper and ink, aren't forced into straight lines. And Edea chose him -- despite his awkwardness, despite the fact that for the first few months she knew him he was mostly struck dumb.
If it was a fairy tale, there would have been a fairy tale kiss. A fairy tale wedding. Nothing so ordinary as a hasty kiss snatched in a corner of a library, just behind the bookshelf full of books on math. It might at least have been behind the shelf where the poetry books were stacked.
