Auron tries not to love now. It's useless. Braska loved Spira so much that he was willing to die. He died for Yuna, for the love of Auron, for the love of Jecht. Jecht died, for love of Braska, for love of Auron, to be with Braska to the end and so Auron wouldn't have to die.
They died to bring the Calm, because the people love the Calm, and Auron hatesthat.
