If Edgeworth didn't know Gumshoe, he'd have said it was impossible. But he did (unfortunately), and so he knew it was entirely possible that something so... undignified should happen to him.

"You fell on my lips? It wasn't a kiss, you fell on my lips?"
Gumshoe shuffled.
Edgeworth rubbed his temples. He didn't have a headache yet, but he was sure that was a fairly temporary state of affairs. "You're the only one in the world I'd let get away with that excuse, you know."
Mumble.
"Well, just... don't let it happen again," Edgeworth said, and beat a hasty retreat.
"Can't promise that," Gumshoe blurted, belatedly.
