"That one's shaped like Sora's head."
Riku squinted a little. The cloud looked like nothing of the sort, to him. "It looks more like... well, a cloud."
"No imagination," Sora said, cheerfully. He squeezed in between them, taking Kairi's place next to Riku. Neither of them minded. "It looks like a hedgehog to me."
"Same thing," Kairi said, and then laughed as Sora elbowed her. She lay back, looking up into the sky. "That one looks like Wakka's head."
"I don't see it," Riku said. That was probably because he was looking at them: at Sora, at Kairi. His best friends. He felt strangely protective, possessive. He was no stranger to that feeling where the two of them were concerned. He shook it off though, elbowing Sora. "Want to fight, later?"
"Mm," Sora said, distractedly. "I thought we were cloud gazing?"
"Will it always be like this?" Kairi asked, quietly. "You two fighting and yet being best friends? Me hanging round watching you? Us all being... together? I wish it could be. Maybe we should all promise..."
"Funny shape for a cloud," Sora said, and squawked like Selphie when Kairi elbowed him. Riku laughed, joining in the little tussle that ensued. He hoped Kairi'd forgotten her question, her promise. He didn't want to lose either of them, of course. But at the same time --
There was so much more to see, he was sure of it.
