FFVIII: Masochism

Fandom: Final Fantasy VIII
Pairing: None
Warnings: Masochism
Rating: PG
Summary: A cure spell is an attack. For [livejournal.com profile] 30_fantasies.

Seifer had noticed it from the first time they'd fought. The way Squall wouldn't be deterred at all by pain, by being hurt -- only encouraged. He might even smile, grimly, when you cut him, when you tore him into pieces.

He enjoyed it.

It wasn't just the enjoyment of a good fight, it went beyond that, way beyond that. It was fighting yourself sore and achy, and feeling happy that you'd done it and improved, yeah. But Squall did it just to feel sore and achy, just to be hurt.

Not that he deliberately got hurt, but in a fight with his only rival, Seifer, he always did. And even the best fighter can slip up in battle with a grat and get pumelled.

But he kept his wounds. After battle, Seifer had never once seen him cure his wounds or just cast a curaga as a quick pick-me-up after a good fight. That really came home to him when he saw Squall walk off from a fight with him with a big slash in his arm.

Squall could do with a cure, he thought. Not that Squall would cure himself; Seifer'd noticed that. And he intended to make sure that little Squally-boy got cured before he was done. It wasn't really a healing spell at all, wasn't defensive in the slightest -- it was designed to get a reaction, and get a reaction it would. In this case, with this person, it was an attack. Seifer prided himself on this; he could see the weaknesses where other people couldn't find any. He'd found Leonhart's weakness.

And he was going to exploit it.

"Hey, Leonhart!" He made a quick gesture, pulled up the spell, and flung it at Squall, like the attack it was.

"Fuck you, Almasy."

He did it just to piss him off. Just to be the annoying fuck he knew he was.

Hot. Hell, yes.

Gorgeous. I want angry!smex from you now. Masochism indeed.

I like the concept of Squall being into the pain bit. It makes him seem less heroic and more... dirtified.
