FFX-2: The One Who Watches
Fandom: Final Fantasy X-2

Rating: G
Summary: She's apart and yet with them. For
pyre_flies.
Paine could hear them all breathing.
She was laying on her back, away from the other three, in a kind of isolationism born from being the one who always had to watch. She was always behind the recorder, not with them; people would remember them, and not her.
Gippal knew that. And rebelled against it -- dragging her into her own recording as often as he possibly could -- sometimes taking it and recording a bit of her talking or cooking or something. But he never missed out on the action, so she never got to be part of it.
Nooj's breathing was soft; deep breaths that sounded almost too long, no snores. It soothed her a little to hear, like everything in the world was right, or he wouldn't be laying there breathing so calmly. Of course, nothing in the world was right with Sin around, but she sometimes she felt (irrationally, yes) that Nooj's breathing would soothe even Sin.
Gippal's breathing was faster. In fact, sometimes he sounded quite out of breath. He snored sometimes, too. She supposed that he had to breathe faster because he never seemed to be still. It wasn't that he was hyperactive, and every move had a meaning, whether it was emphasizing his speech or expressing his emotions or something that was actually useful. He just couldn't sit and be peaceful.
It surprised her, but Baralai's breathing was the fastest. For all his calmness on the outside, it seemed like he was always panicking about something. In battle, he was quick, too, and he was always first with a haste if it was needed. Sometimes she thought of just telling him to relax.
Sometimes when listening to them, a strange feeling of possession stole over her. Her Crimson Squad.
If she couldn't have glory recording spheres, they would. And she'd be happy if they got it. She could record their story, and maybe some day, they would tell hers.
