FFII: Things Pirates Do

Fandom: Final Fantasy II
Pairing: Leila/Maria
Warnings: None
Rating: PG
Summary: Shortly after Leila's sailors were defeated, she decided to have words with Maria. For [livejournal.com profile] fic_on_demand.

"Bad things happen to young ladies on pirate ships, y'know," Leila said. Maria wasn't sure if that was meant to be threatening, but she knew she could handle any of the pirates single-handedly. Except, perhaps, Leila. She had, probably wisely, kept out of the fight. She raised an eyebrow, and the pirate captain grinned. "Of course, I know ye can handle y'self. Don't suppose you know what bad things can happen to young ladies on ships?"

"No," Maria said. She leaned against the side, looking over at the water. "I suppose you do," she said, and then thought about it, and realised that yes, she probably did.

"I kept a knife strapped to my thigh," Leila said, winking. She reached for Maria, before Maria could flinch back, and felt her thigh. "I don't feel one on you, though."

Maria took a hasty step back. "What are you doing?"

"Just some harmless fun," the pirate said, rolling her eyes. "Unless ye'll be wanting more, in which case I have a private cabin in which I could show ye exactly what does happen to a girl who ventures onto a pirate's ship. Unless it'd be offendin' that big one you've got with you. The little one, maybe I could deal with."

She huffed softly, feeling warmth in her cheeks, knowing she was blushing. "Firion and Guy would both defend my honour, but..."

"Don't worry," Leila said, smirking. "I won't be doing anything of that sort to ye. Unless you want me to. I'll be in that cabin."

Maria watched Leila go, wondering. There was something attractive about the pirate captain: her brightly mocking eyes, her confidence, the brief flash of her smile every now and then. It was tempting, somehow.

She shook her head as if to clear it, and turned to stare down at the water.
